The book festival will include both live virtual and in-person events and exclusively represents underrepresented children’s authors and storytellers.
Brampton, ON – The FOLD Foundation will host the fourth annual FOLD Kids Book Fest from November 8-12, 2022 in Brampton, Ontario. The event will include both in-person and online live events that children of all ages, parents, educators, kidlit authors, and readers can attend. Interested attendees can register online here.
The FOLD Kids Book Fest focuses on illustrators, authors, and storytellers that are underrepresented in literary circles. For the past two years, the event has been held entirely online. In 2022, the FOLD is proud to mark a return to in-person programming at the Book Fest with free events held at the Brampton Civic Centre and the Chinguacousy branch of the Brampton Library.
The multi-modal event is Canada’s first kidlit festival for diverse national and international authors. The live in-person events will happen from November 10-12 at the Brampton Civic Center, while the online events will happen from November 8-12 on the vFairs platform.
This year’s event features acclaimed authors Lawrence Hill, Willie Poll, Emily Seo, Johnnie Christmas, and many more, who will be participating in events held in a special Virtual Clubhouse for readers, educators and booklovers. Attendees will be able to watch and rewatch all the virtual sessions and keep access to the virtual exhibit hall till the end of the year.
The event agenda also includes exciting and fun virtual sessions, a leaderboard, and a scavenger hunt. The event will highlight over 20 authors at over 25 unique literary events such as read alouds, panels, writing workshops, etc. The social and gamification tools at the event will present educators and readers with an exciting opportunity to connect with each other.
“We are so excited to expand and grow the festival this year by incorporating new features into our virtual clubhouse, and by introducing a brand new leaderboard for users to compete for book-ish prizes,” said Jael Richardson, Executive Director at FOLD.
“I am glad that this year’s FOLD Book Fest will be bigger and better than ever before as the vFairs platform has helped grow national and international audiences for the hosts,” said Muhammad Younas, CEO of vFairs.
The 2021 FOLD book fest had 5000 attendees. The 2022 Festival of Literary Diversity, which took place in May, had 13,000 attendee registrations. Interested participants can register here.
