Brampton, ON – The Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD), Canada’s pioneering literary event celebrating diverse authors and storytellers, has announced the event to be held from April 28 to May 5, 2024. This year’s festival promises enriching experiences both virtually and in person. Attendees can register here.
FOLD 2024 is designed for readers, writers, educators, teens, and publishing professionals alike. Participants can expect to gain invaluable insights, inspiration, and connections through diverse programs tailored to their interests and needs.
Executive Director of the FOLD Foundation, Jael Richardson, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “In our ninth year of the festival, we chose a theme of FREADOM – a theme which will be discussed in the opening event of the festival and which will be featured in the festival’s limited edition t-shirt. But this theme is not just about having access to books. It’s also about the freedom to write across genres and forms. Over the last few years, a handful of books have been published from contacts made at the FOLD, which makes me so proud. We’re focused on removing barriers and making sure everyone has access to storytelling – as a reader and as a writer.”
What sets FOLD apart is its commitment to showcasing diverse voices and narratives. Featuring appearances by bestselling authors such as Waubgeshig Rice, Craig Shreve, and Alicia Elliott, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, workshops, and performances.
The festival will host various in-person events at prominent venues in Brampton, Ontario, including The Rose Theatre, Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archive, and The Alderlea. Highlights include the Literary High Tea, The Great Readception: A Literary Cabaret, and Frightful Indigenous Fiction. Additionally, FOLD 2024 will offer engaging live and pre-recorded virtual events, including FREADOM: Authors on Activism, Indigenous Horror, Re-Imagining Horror, and School Group Events.
